TDS Ruanta C-12

Chemical Name:2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate

Chemical Formula:C12H24O3

Molecular Weight:216.3

CAS NO.:25265-77-4

Properties and application

1/ Physical properties Colorless transparent liquid, boiling point 255°C, specific gravity: 0.945—0.955 (20/20°C), freezing point −50°C, refractive index 1.4423 (20°C).

2/ Product Features C-12 is an ideal water-based coalescent agent with good compatibility with emulsion polymers and reduces MFT/TG. At the same time, C-12 has an optimal evaporation rate and is easily absorbed by the surface of the polymer, without affecting the stability of the emulsion particles.
3/ Applications C-12 is suitable for various kinds of water painting systems, such as emulsions, methacrylate, styrene and vinyl acetate based adhesives.

4/ Method of administration of C-12 can be used in its pure form. After mixing properly, add C-12 to the water paint system.

Physical properties

Description

UCAR FILMER IBT is an effective coalescent solvent for latex construction inks, printing inks and industrial

coatings. It can be easily added to formulations without the negative effects typical of some film-forming agents, such

as an increase in viscosity, gel formation or coagulation.

Features

  • Solvent not belonging to the group of HAP (hazardous air pollutants)
  • Low evaporation rate
  • Very low solubility in water
  • High resistance to flushing
  • Excellent coalescent for emulsion polymers
  • Excellent hydrolytic stability
  • Does not affect shine
  • Does not affect the effectiveness of synthetic thickeners
  • Does not cause problems with coagulation or gel formation
  • Does not cause problems with increased viscosity

Application

  • Coalescent additives
  • Coverage
  • Nail care products
  • Printing inks
  • Solvents for cosmetics and personal care products
  • Plasticizers
  • Chemical Intermediates
