Glycerin (or glycerol)- It is a triatomic alcohol, a simple polyol compound. Glycerin is a viscous liquid without color and odor, sweet in taste, which is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. Glycerin has three hydrophilic hydroxy-groups, which causes its water solubility and hygroscopicity. The glycerol skeleton is the central part of all lipids, known as triglycerides.
