Hydroxyethyl Cellulose

CELLLOSIZE™ QP 300 HEC

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose CELLOSIZE™ QP 300 (HEC)is a cellulose polymer with a medium to low molecular weight. The product of the brand QP 300 is intended for use as a protective colloid and for thickening water-based paints. The typical usage rate of CELLOSIZE™ QP 300 in the emulsion polymerization process of vinyl and acrylic monomers, resulting in latexes for decorative paints, is 2 wt% of the total monomer mass (in vinyl and vinyl-acrylic formulations), and slightly lower for acrylic fishing recipes. The almost newtonian rheological properties of CELLOSIZE™ QP 300 aqueous solutions make it the ideal thickener for water-based paints of the highest quality. Ether gives paints excellent fluidity and leveling characteristics. The typical content of CELLOSIZE™ QP 300 in water-based paints is 0.3-0.7%. The product is also used as a water-retaining additiveto cements.

HYDROXYETHYL CELLULOSE (GETZ)

Chemical Name:Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC)

CAS No.:9004-62-0

Acronym:HЕC - GETZ

Hydroxyethyl cellulose esters are easily soluble in cold water and are used as water-retaining additives, thickeners, binder stabilizers and fillers in aqueous medium, as dispersants, emulsifiers and plasticizers in construction industry, dry mix production, water-based dispersion paints and varnishes. Depending on the tasks, hydroxyethyl cellulose esters with different viscosity are used:

The marking “S” is used for ordinary GEC marks.

Marking “SE” is used for special microorganism-resistant GEC brands.

Applications of Hydroxyethyl Cellulose:

  • Production of water varnishes and paints
  • Cement-based adhesives and plasters
  • Repair mixtures based on cement
  • Cement-based grout
  • Mortars for masonry
  • Gypsum-based adhesives
  • Gypsum plasters
  • Gypsum-based crack mixtures and fillers
  • Manufacture of ceramics and polymerization of polyvinyl chloride.

Packing of Hydroxyethyl Cellulose:

The HEC product is supplied in multilayer paper bags of 25 kg with an inner plastic liner. Store in hermetically sealed containers or in waterproof bags.

Methylhydroxyethyl cellulose (Walocel)

Cellulose from thickening of alcohol solutions and rinses

METHOCEL*311 cellulose ester— this is a new product of the spectrum of cellulose derivatives produced by DAU. It has a high solubility in a wide range of organic solvents, as well as in water. Due to the reliable control of particle size, METHOCEL*311 cellulose ether aracteric has good dry fluidity, low dust formation rate, and easy dispersion in water and organic solvents without forming lumps.

METHOCEL*311has been developed purposefully for use in formulations that require a thickener with controlled solubility in both water and organic solvents. The data from Tables 1 and 2 demonstrate that this novel cellulose ester provides excellent thickening of solvents in both methylene chloride washes and other formulations that do not contain methylene chloride.
